In South Florida we have very little variety when it comes to the seasons. The majority of the time it’s just hot and humid. Once in a while we’ll get rainy days but that pretty much sums up the extent of the weather down here. Now that we find ourselves in autumn I can feel the slightest difference in the morning. Winter is right around the corner and I can feel it in my bones. I suppose that’s why I enjoyed Colorado so much. Waking up and walking outside to a cold breeze makes me feel so… American, and I don’t mean that in a patriotic sense. It’s as if I finally arrived home from a long trip and the winds were welcoming me with opened arms.
Now that’s it’s Saturday I can focus on my projects a little more intensely. Later on I’ll take a break and walk my dogs, take a nap, enjoy a cup of tea, and then get back to it. Weekends are the ultimate therapy sometimes, even if I am working.

Let’s see. I think it’s time I listed a few of the highlights and lowlights of the past few days.
- I turned in my swatchbook assignment for my Graphic Design class. Got good feedback.
- Did a new scratch board piece and showed it to my Portfolio class. Good feedback as well.
- Bought a new scanner. It’s a thing of beauty.
- Also bought a good APC battery backup. (I have to mention these purchases because I barely buy anything outside of food.)
- Bought the new Rilo Kiley album.
- Jenny Lewis is still a fox.
- Missed the Rilo Kiley show because I was finishing a project.
- Was in the passenger seat of Yuen’s car when he almost got a traffic ticket. The off-duty cop opted for a stern warning instead.
- Had some logos rejected by a client. Back to the drawing board.
- Getting ready to fly to Colorado with 11 other classmates for the AIGA conference. I’ll be gone for a few days.
- Learned the 14 characteristics of Modernism via a series of hand movements I choreographed.
- Been enjoying the new season of Heroes and The Office.
- Wondering when LOST will be revived.
- In the process of reading 5 books. Keeps me busy.
- Attended the memorial service of my friend Edeliel Veguilla. He was an inspiring guy.
- Saw a lot of friendly faces I hadn’t seen a while. I love you guys.
- Interested in writing poetry. Starting with limericks.
- Today is Heredes’ birthday. You’re gettin’ old, boy!
- Sarah, have a safe trip!
That’s it for now. I’ll aim to write more frequently, especially now that I have a scanner to show off some of these new sketches.
