Engaged in ‘09

This time it’s not a prank. As of Christmas Eve I am now engaged to the lovely Genie Mokher. And it feels good!

Details:
Genie was on stage dismissing the Christmas Eve service for Flamingo Road Church Doral. As she was saying farewell I joined her on stage and interrupted, much to her dismay. I greeted the audience with a “Merry Christmas” and the rest is left for you to see. Check it out…

Yep, she was totally surprised. Check out the ring:

So 2010 is going to be an exciting year and we’re both really stoked about it. What are your 2010 plans? Drop us a comment!

Nothing To Worry About

Saw this music video by Peter, Bjorn, & John that kept me amused, bewildered, and fascinated at the same time. Enjoy!

China Memories Pt.1

Here are the first 3 memories I’d like to share with you.

I was amazed at the police uniforms all over China. They definitely had a sense of military power, which made the police more intimidating than usual for me.

This lovely little girl had the most haunting beautiful eyes in all of Xi’an. Her mother carried her along the same path that a couple of friends and I were walking and we coincidentally ended up in the same restaurant for breakfast. I snapped this photo without hesitation.

Young Chinese Girl

While in Beijing, our group entered a Jade factory where I purchased a hand-carved Chinese stamp. Here’s a photo of the craftsman engraving my name into it.

Back in America

Back and Proud

So it’s been just over a week since my return from China. It was quite the trip and there are so many things to write about and share. I’m still editing photos and gathering memories to post, so please be patient. If there’s one thing I can say with good ol’ American pride, it’s that the food in our country rocks. I missed simple sandwiches and snacks of the non-fish variety. First chance I got, I devoured a hamburger. Mmmm! So good!

Off To China!

Yummy Food

It’s been quiet here on Sketchism for a bit. Sorry about that. For the next 2 weeks it may or may not remain quiet on here. That’s because I’ll be writing on a group blog called CountdownToChina. A couple of classmates and I have been planning and saving for this trip and the day has finally arrived. So go ahead and check out our blog as we see the sights that China has to offer.

It’s All Guava

These things smell so bad but they’re quite beautiful.

Talkin' Trash
Sometimes life demands a little dirt beneath your fingernails. Oh, and trash in a bag.
