About a Girl

This happened about 30 minutes ago. I wish I would have said more. I’ll make up for it next time by saying something smooth like, “Hey there sweetheart, don’t worry about the gas. I’m all Diesel.”

Chicks dig that kinda stuff.

AIGA Conference 2007 Review

I don’t know how to begin this entry. I’ll start with “whoooooa that was awesome”. Let me continue by thanking all the people who accompanied me on this trip. The 11 other people who made up The Denver Dozen (in no particular order): WutDatEyu, Brown, SoSorry, Hotdog, La Sueca, Olgita, Dopey, Trixy, Luigi, Chavín, and Fleckles. Of course, I also want to thank my professors and dean: Elemento, YouseGuys, and the honorable Maggy Cuesta (I’ll leave you alone, since you sign the checks). Thank you all! You made this trip unbelievably fun, hilarious, and memorable. I’m afraid the rest of the post is full of inside jokes. But you can try to figure them out if you like!

I realize we have a policy of “What Happens in Denver, Stays in Denver”, but there are a few moments worth noting:

  • Faces getting scribbled on while sleeping.

  • Crowds chanting “o-KAY!” on the dance floor.

  • Snoring through a speech.

  • Limited edition Ed Fella prints.

  • Falling in love over 10 times.

  • Free pancake room service.

  • Getting locked out of a session.

  • Snowboarding on the Texas airport metro mover.

  • Jumping on the beds.

  • Jumping on the sidewalks.

  • 3 flavors of Hatorade.

  • Meeting the founder of KidRobot.

  • Finding out that guy didn’t really steal my pen.

  • Taking over the Sketch Wall – Miami Style.

  • Breakdance competitions.

  • “That’s a ladies drink.”

  • No spanish music!?

  • Lame Kerning jokes.

  • Command X making women cry.

  • Foot massages.

  • Hot wings are really hot – who knew?

  • Twenty dollars on chocolate.

  • The yellow suitcase.

I’m sure if I take the time to think a little longer, I could fill this page up even more. But I get the feeling most people have already stopped reading by this point. Click the picture below for my collection of photos of the trip. Note: the photos are randomized. Also, use your left/right arrow keys to scroll through the photos. I hope they make you smile.

Glamour Dictators - Chavez

They’re so peaceful at that age. Lets give him a moment to pray, shall we?

Glamour Dictators - Castro

Last week someone told me that Fidel Castro died. I was like “really?” and she was like “yeah, a friend of mine told me.” My journalistic instincts kicked in and I responded with “nuh-uh,” to which she replied “yuh-huh” and I realized I was up-gunned. So I decided to look it up on Google News. I typed in something along the lines of “Castro Death” and a few articles came up. Some were written only a few minutes before I looked them up and they said that, despite rumors, Castro was still alive and in recovery from a recent surgery. What caught my attention most was the photo posted on the majority of the news websites. Apparently the last photo taken of Fidelito was a ridiculous portrait of him smiling with his fist under his chin. I laughed out loud and thought of the absurdity of the imagery. So I decided to tweak it a bit more and make it look all nice and pretty. And so I introduce the first photo of hopefully many more… Glamour Dictators.

Young Miami folks will get this. Doesn’t guarantee a laugh, though. Maybe the song below will bring some smiles. Or not.

Leap of Faith

Well I did it. I took the plunge. Everything seems so clear now. Life is one beautiful aqua-button after another now. My brother is in no small danger of converting, too. I spent my entire evening yesterday playing with the video conferencing feature on iChat. Below are a few screen shots of my friends chatting it up with me. Old friends reunited, and new potential friendships were made as well. Ever played Hide-And-Seek on iChat? We have. It’s pretty entertaining.

Now I’ve got to install some of the cool programs I use at work. And I need to find someone to buy my old PC parts, including 2 monitors. I’ll post the specs later.

Post-Blogathon Blogalong

Well that was fun.

Yesterday morning at exactly 9AM I received a phone call from my buddy David, aka Yuen, aka”The Elder”.  When I walked out of the building he was there, camera in hand, to begin interviewing me. I answered his silly questions and locked up the building. Seeing how I was in no state to be driving, Elder drove me to church with him where I received a delicious breakfast meal. I like to think it was made just for me. I practically ate it all anyways. Naturally, I fell asleep during the church discussion. Someone nudged me awake after a while, understandably. When we wrapped up, Yuen played the video he had recorded only hours before. It was 30% embarrassing, 50% hilarious, and 20% a blur (mind you I was basically still sleeping.) Great job, Yuen.

After that I managed to drive home. My parents asked me a few questions which sounded like “mwap mwap mwap mwappety mwap mwap?” to which I responded with a series of grunts and shrugs. Then I flopped onto my bed, turning off my cellphone and then turned on some relaxing music. That was at 2:30PM. When I opened my eyes again, the clock read 9:30PM. What a relief! I managed to then get out of bed, walk around a bit, grab a slice of pizza, answer a few more questions, and then my brother invited me to watch some episodes of Futurama with him. We had some good laughs and then it was time to sleep once more. At 11PM I was back in bed and I woke up this morning at 9AM. So 7 hours of rest during the day and 8 hours at night. I’d say I caught up on my rest. I’m feeling good today. I even drew another cartoon in my sketchbook. I may even post it on here soon.

Good night!
