First Drawings

Letters and Books 1-10

These are the first 10 pieces for my Life Drawing class. For now this is the subject matter I will focus on: letters and books. They are each 9”x12”, and varying in graphite and ink.

The overall consensus during my critique was that I need to continue emphasizing a background, devote more time to each piece, work on creating a better tonal range for each drawing, and continue in the direction of actual words instead of just random letters.

It’s a rusty beginning, but I look forward to improving throughout the semester. Thoughts?

their critiques fit your work to a T.

i’d say the tonal range in the first three are beautiful (i love the first one best), and i love the short words (“if” and “duh”). overall i think it’s a great direction. just keeping pushing it in the way your classmates have already pointed out!

    I love ‘duh’.

Tell the prof. to shhhh, and also tell em that you’re the artist. (point your finger at his/her face while you’re at it.) And you know very well what I think about artists. I’m sure your prof. will be flabbergasted. (I love that word.)

No, but for real, lol. Some of the drawings do look unfinished, and of course the prof. wants things finish. Why can’t they just appreciate?!

I’m sure you’ll improve by next week….er, finish, next week.

    I’m done =)

    Have a goooonaye.
