Brand Thyself

sketchism logos

It’s taken me a while to finally come up with a logo for Sketchism. But alas, it has arrived. I over-thought it too much before. I had vectorized pens, pencils, chalk, all sorts of other things that I thought would work. But in the end I chose to sketch out my logo and it just made sense to me. The ol’ K.I.S.S. method: Keep It Simple, Stupid.

What you see above are different examples of what the logo may look like on different backgrounds. I decided that I like prefer the thumbnail box to always stay white on top of light-to-gray surfaces. It pops more. And the S-thumbnail can always become a symbol of its own. Otherwise it seems dull, as can be observed in the third image down.

When coming up with logos, ya gotta keep these things in mind. Can it sit on a t-shirt? Will it be legible when shrunk down for a business card? How important are the colors? Does the logo look good when it’s inverted? I believe mine does. The last 2 images show this. I played around with different color schemes. The simplicity of the logo makes it flexible enough for any background. I can do with it what I please.

And I am definitely pleased.
