A lot of eventful things happening these days. I’m meeting up with some old friends in a few minutes, going to a party tonight, celebrating Christmas tomorrow night, and then I’m off to North Carolina for some snowboarding two days later. These are happy days.
So find somebody and hug them. And then ask them what they got you for Christmas.
So I’ve upgraded to solid foods again. This is definitely progress. The next step is to remove the stitches in my mouth. The dentist in Colombia told me I could take them off myself. Well I tried. It’s not that easy. I sterilized some tweezers and a small set of nail-clipping scissors and attempted to stick them in my mouth at the same time. Not easy. And no, this was not my first resort. I had my aunt try it first but the scissors were just too small. So I’m thinking of going to a local dentist to have them snip the little stitches off. It should take no more than a minute to complete. But they’re charging me $60 bucks for it. Sheesh. Maybe I can find roaming gypsy who’ll do it for $10. They need the money.
Another update, I’m working again. It’s back to the design studio. It feels good to start earning some income again. Especially now that Christmas is only a few days away. Which reminds me. I’d better go buy stuff. Like longer scissors.
I feel bad that I hadn’t posted on sketchism in over a month, so I’m trying to make up for it by writing as frequently as possible without getting annoying. I’m home now trying to heal up and relax, but I’ve also made me a list of things to do: clean room, register for classes, unpack luggage (done), throw out stuff, sell last semester’s text book, etc. It really is nice to be home. I can’t wait to see my friends again. Being with the family yesterday was nice too. We hung out and watched Ice Age: The Meltdown. It was hilarious. I recommend it to anyone with a funny bone.
Another good thing about being home is the fact that people speak English here. I guess it was good that my Spanish was improving while I was in Colombia, but class is over and I’m ready to use my old phrases such as “Niiiiice”, “Gangsta!”, “Yeah WUTEVA”, and “I’ll have a tall Mocha Frappucino, please.”
Well I’d better get back to my list of chores.
Yeah WUTEVA.
So I’m back home. My throat hurts. I’m tired. I can still only “eat” liquids. At least my flight was pleasant. The in-flight movie was Talladega Nights. I laughed the loudest on the flight. I guess I’m the only one who really appreciates dumb American humor. Silly foreigners.
I can’t believe Christmas is just around the corner. It really sneaked up this year. Very sneaky sneaky. I don’t exactly know my plans for Christmas Eve. But Christmas Day I’m heading up to North Carolina with a bunch of college students from Church. I’m gonna be snow boarding, yes sir. Good times are a-coming, (As soon as I start healing up and get the stitches out of my mouth. And when I stop swallowing my own blood.)
Being a vampire is no fun. Scratch that, being a vampire with missing teeth is no fun.
For the past 10 hours or so I´ve been tasting the saltiness of my own blood among other things such as gatorade, cold soup, grape gelatin, and an herbal mouth wash. I´m the victim of a brutal wisdom teeth extraction.
And I traveled thousands of miles just for it. Orthodontic operations are much cheaper in South America, including the plane ticket and all. So I figured, why not? They had a bit of trouble taking out my left wisdom tooth though. In fact, it took 3 doctors to finally pull that sucker out. Apparently the Lord built me with some fat wisdom teeth in the lower back row. Which is to say he gave me quite a heftly load of wisdom. Well, now that I´ve lost it I´ve succumbed to healing on my cousin´s bed with an ice pack while watching music videos on VH1 Colombia. Fortunately they´re playing all the American videos from the eighties, nineties, and today. Highlights include the entire U2 filmography, “Pump Up The Jam” by Technotronic, “Rapper´s Delight” by the Sugar Hill Gang, and “Macarena (club mix)” by the Barrio Boys and some annoying hispanic chick. Yup, Colombian culture is really keeping up with American trends.
I´d better lay down again. All this blood is making me queezy. Oh, and I think they´re showing a brand new episode of The Jeffersons!
Out.
