So juries went really well for me. I wasn’t exactly sure who would be judging me this time, but it was a good group. And they were all women. Needless to say, there was hardly a silent moment throughout the critique. As they went through my photography work on the wall and the package designs I worked on all semester, there was plenty of positive feedback and honest criticism. This photo doesn’t look as dramatic as the other six, actually neither does that one.
You’ve got to move in a little closer on that shot. I’m not interested in the surrounding details. The lighting on this one is so powerful. I have really nothing negative to say about this packaging assignment. It’s very strong. And yet you could have resolved this a number of ways. I want to see you experiment more, David. You’re design is very “safe”. It’s time to explore some more so you can grow. We’ve talked about this before, haven’t we? Maria says your attendance was great. For creativity, she gave you a two out of five. For concept, three out of five. Annette gave you straight fives in all categories. Good job.
Each critique sends my ego on a lengthy rollercoaster ride. And like most rollercoaster rides, I usually end up smiling in the end but feeling a bit fatigued. Overall it was a great critique and I look forward to wowing them next time. I have a feeling I’ll be keeping my scholarship next year. Joy!
