Traveling Yet Again

In a few hours I will be departing to Central Florida for WKBC’s latest Spring Retreat with the high school and middle school students. I get to be a camp counselor and team leader again. I’m hoping to reclaim my victory streak in camp outings. ‘Tis always a challenge, but who doesn’t enjoy a good one? As a result of going out of town for the remainder of the week, I am forced to complete all my assignments today. I’m currently allowing my film to dry so I can begin organizing and printing them. It’s going to be a long few hours. I haven’t even eaten lunch (the tragedy!).

It’s time I bought new batteries for my digital camera. The cheapo “rechargable” ones I purchased on a NY street corner don’t last very long. The Energizer Lithium batteries are the best. They last like… 20 hours.

Anyways, back to the trip. I’m excited to be returning to Lake Aurora, where I attended my very first Spring Retreat. I’m sure nothing can top the year I met The Ribeiros, The Albonigas, Bryan, Kristel, Kenny, Gerry, Robbie and the rest of the gang. T’was a fun outing indeed.

When I return to Miami on Sunday, I’ll hopefully be refreshed and ready for the Eisley show on Monday. Good good times! I’m out. Peace.

Oh, and about the comments… Hold onto your comments for now. I have yet to find a temporary solution for my comment spam problem, with the exception of not allowing any comments at all. I can live with that.

B is for Brazilian Birthday

It’s official. I’m going to see the Ribeiros in Brazil. And just in time for my birthday, too. I went online and purchased my roundtrip tickets earlier this week. As it stands, I will be there between the days of April 27th and May 6th. As of now I plan on doing much sightseeing, catching up, and eating (naturally). Sarah also informed me that there are quite a few skate parks in the area, so I’ll be taking my board. The Ribeiros will be the first people to see me eat it when getting on a ramp. I’m excited already.

There are a number of fun events coming up as well. Eisley concert is in two weeks, then there’s the Bloc Party show, followed by the Emery/Anberlin show. And the next day is my flight out to the Land of the Lost, also known as Brazil. Today I discovered a possible educational opportunity in England. I won’t get into the details yet frankly because I don’t have any at this point, but if it looks like a possibility I’ll write more about it.

Gotta go do some stuff now. Peace, my ninjas.

Edit: I just noticed this was my 500th entry on Sketchism. Wooohoo! I feel so, so… eh I’m tired.

Upgraded

I’ve upgraded to Movable Type 3.2. For the past 3 years I’ve been on an ongoing battle with Comment Spam on my site. I’ve done quite a bit of research and taken a few measures to stop it but alas it has been a struggle nonetheless. This new version of MT should hinder spammers from trying to take over my site again. Cosmetically, the site looks the same (for now) but from what I understand, the comment area should differ. It will require all commenters (or is it commentators?) to have a TypeKey. It’s quick to sign up for and frankly it will save me hours of trouble. Now I can spend more time writing entries instead of editting and deleting spam comments.

What a relief.
