School School School

Well I’ve continued the daily routine of waking up early successfully so far. It’s just getting harder and harder because I keep on going to bed late. I average about 5 hours of sleep each night and by the time the alarm goes off I’m clinging to the sheets for dear rest. Fortunately my dad is awake at the same time so he’s there to nudge me if I start snoozing again.

I shot my first two rolls of film for Photography Class. Alls I need to do is develop my photos at the lab. It’s been years since I was in a dark room with all those lovely chemicals. There’s something magical about seeing your very own photos develop. The only thing I need to get a hang of again is rolling the film onto those darned metal clamp things. ‘Tis a struggle for a newbie.

I did my first Illustration presentation and it went… mediocre. The class liked my work, but I completely forgot that we had to dress professionally for our critiques. Naturally I was the fool wearing a t-shirt with two cars crashing into each other, my shorts, and running shoes, (A fly combination, I might add). I made up for my looks, as usual, with my charm. I spoke up, smiled, complimented my classmates, nodded, and smiled some more. Hopefully my professor will show some mercy. If not, oh well, it’s my first time doing it for this class, so I’ll have opportunities to show improvement. I just don’t want to hear another lecture on the importance of dressing for the presentation. I get it.

i use 2 alarms to wake me up in the morning. first my cell phone goes off just to get me semi-awake.. 99% of the time i hit snooze on it. then like 6 minutes later i have the clock/radio alarm blasting loud music. :D

Reminds me of a crit I had at UM back in 1983, it was my last crit for one of my last classes. It was something of a class on presenting your portfolio and selling yourself. We had the crit at my teacher’s job at Racal Milgo (big prehistoric computer-type company), deep in the wilds of what is now Doral, in the auditorium.

Anyway, there was no dress code for it, but I decided to wear a suit. I was the only one. All my classmates wanted to kill me. I also recorded a jingle for myself as well. I found that the professors gave A’s to those that went above and beyond the requirements.

    Miss ya, bro…take it easy…

    I say give Uribe an A+!! ;)
That’s really cool you get to develop your own photos. I always wanted to do that.
Good luck w/ the waking up early…I suck at it, hehe. But only when it comes to school. If it’s ANYTHING else, I’ll make the sacrifice…but school?? Ehhh.. I even skipped my first class this morning b/c I just didn’t feel like getting up, hehe.
I have my first stats exam today…pray for me!!

Uribe man, your awesome and you always look presentable when I see you so don’t worry about it even though two cars crashing into eachother wouldn’t be suitable in the business world. Develop those films and keep up the good work in your classes. I think i’m done adding what i want to add so i’ll stop typing now. Email me sometime!
