RTU pics

Well I finally did it. Here are the pics for the RTU trip. Hover over the images for a little commentary.

As far as my stand-up comedy, it went extremely well. I rehearsed my lines and followed through with them. Got some good feedback, which made me feel great. Unfortunately we couldn’t record it, so it looks like I might have to perform it again for those who could join us. All the better. I had a fun time performing.

Mr. Funnyface

Well tomorrow is the day: my comical debut . In an attempt to satisfy many requests from the youth group, I shall stand up at some point tomorrow and say things I believe to be funny and true. Well… maybe not true, but at least funny. I’ve done enough speaking in front of large groups to believe I can do ok, and most people understand my humor. I won’t reveal my style to those of you who do not know me, partly because it’s still so under-developed that I have to try it out a few times before I can officially call it mine.

On that note… anyone know any good jokes? (Keep in mind that there will be no punching of faces for humor… ahem jess)

edit: part of my humor is making up words, like comedical.

It’s Good to be Home

So many of my friends from high school have gone off to colleges outside of Florida. I’m happy to hear that most of them are settled in well and are excited to start a new life in a fresh atmosphere of independence. There’s something exciting about being in charge of yourself. Right now I live at home with my parents and brother and I haven’t felt so happy in such a long time. It’s not necessarily because I’m with them, but because I’ve made the most of the opportunities that have come my way while living at home. The Lord has opened up doors that I never knew were present. These include job & education opportunities, leaders in my life, discussion with friends and family.

Ever since I came back from the retreat in August I’ve had such a passion to get to know other people and tell them the good news that has been neglected to be shared properly. To see them feel enriched by the promise that has been made to them is such an incredible experience.

Sore eyes

I’ve noticed that I tend to end my posts with some kind of quick wrap-up. I don’t like to expand so much on them is all. My guess is that no one really wants to read the entire events of my day. As long as I make it brief and interesting the audience should be satisfied. On that note…

Rock the Universe was incredibly awesome! Spent time with some new faces of our youth group and got to know them. Once again I was a counselor and was in charge of a select few to lead as we headed on our own. We managed to see the following bands perform: Bleach; Pillar; Third Day; Paul Colman Trio (a new favorite band of mine); Skillet; and finally Audio Adrenaline. I would have liked to see a few more but because of time constraints and physical fatigue we simply could not. Oh well, there’s always next year.

We returned to West Kendall on Sunday at 3 in the morning which gave us only 4 hours to sleep before the first service began. I’m still feeling the jet-lag (if that’s the proper term for this lack of energy) from it all. As soon as I got home I slept a few hours and then napped some more. When it came time to finally go to sleep at night I was fully awake. My mind was all over the place with ideas so I began to write them all in a little notepad I bought a week ago.

Only got a few hours rest last night, so I suffered as the school day went by. Did research at the library and managed to get a head start on a few assignments. Which reminds me… time to complete them. (Notice the wrap-up and the not-so-short post. Contradiction sucks.)

Oh yeah, pictures sometime this week. My eyes are killing me.

What to do…

Hmmm… it’s 7:10 am.

I think I’ll go rock the universe.

Really.

Pictures when I get back.

Books a million

I’ve had to make a few runs to Barnes & Noble and Michael’s this week in an attempt to get the essentials for my classes. The list seems to go on and on. I now own 3 sketchbooks, all of which I plan on (according to all the syllabusseses) filling up by the end of the school year. No sweat. Gotta head out to Michael’s again later to buy some more supplies which means more money outta my pocket and into their register. It’s getting me very anxious, I must admit, but I’m starting to see what the real world is like. You work for the money you spend, and it’s hard to say goodbye to it, especially when you’re low on cash like me.

I smell dinner. Must eat.

Oh by the way… HAPPY 21’st BIRTHDAY, TONY! How great it is to be your kid brother! Love ya, man.
